Welcome

When you enter the Grossan Institute web page you see all manner of advice that can help you to be healthy. When you learn that hot tea, lemon and honey can clear you sinuses, that lifting up the tip of your nose can stop your snoring, or that taking papaya can open your blocked ears, then you are on the road to better health.

I admit that many of my recommendations are unusual. But, when my patient is able to do a simple exercise and stop her dizziness, instead of resorting to pills that make her drowsy, that is an accomplishment for me. Getting people well is why I went to medical school.

I attended medical school in Augusta, Georgia at a time when many persons couldn¹t afford fancy medicines. We were taught to be country doctors, to make do with what was available. Did you know that my wife Rosalyn an actress/writer- actually delivered babies as part of my medical school course? After all, if I was going to practice as a country doctor, that would come in handy. I also had to develop drug free approaches to medical care because of my specialty in Scuba Diving Medicine. Scuba divers descend to depths of 100 feet or more. Drugs behave differently at those depths. So, it is essential that I clear their blocked ears without medication that might harm them where the pressure on the body is four times greater than on the surface. One thing about this blog. I will not be just telling you to eat dark chocolate to stop pre-menstrual headaches; I will be explaining why this stops those headaches. This information is Medication Enhancement-when you understand why a therapy works and what it does, the treatment works much better. When you understand why a treatment works, and visualize it working, you relax and reduce stress factors that might slow your healing. This blog will also be appearing on Facebook at The Grossan Sinus & Health Institute page. There you can ask questions and I will attempt to give you answers that you can use.

The first thing about healing an illness is to stop the stress and anxiety chemicals that impair normal healing. I sincerely hope that knowing you can get your answers here from a board certified ear nose and throat specialist will aid your relaxation as an aid to natural healing. But I plan to also show you relaxation techniques from my book. I invite questions. BUT never ask, “Should I have surgery?” The best question to ask is, “What should I do to get well?”

I am looking forward to hearing from you. I stress again, the more you understand how that ear, nose, and throat of yours works, and what the treatment does, the better result you will have, because that knowledge will empower you to better health.

Best wishes to all,
Murray G.

I have sinus pain/pressure, a sore in the right nasal cavity that won’t heal…I can see it in the mirror with a light…over a month now…bleeds when I blow too hard/scab comes out that has some mucous and blood. Saw an ENT over 3 weeks ago…he prescribed Nasonex and nettie-pot saline rinse treatment…hasn’t worked. Saw my GP a week ago…she prescribed a strong antibiotic with no tests done for sinus infection….Clavulin for 14 days – 2 a day. But after 3 days of taking it, in the last 4 days I have started feeling pain/sensitivity in my teeth, especially in upper front and come to think of it that symptom has been around longer…in the last 4 days have developed a sore spot on the roof of the mouth close to the front teeth that burns somewhat and I have noticed some tearing in my right eye on an occasional basis. Am worried that the antibiotic is not helping after a week of taking it. Am concerned that I may have sinus cancer of some sort. Are my symptoms consistent with a sinus infection? Should I wait until the antibiotic is done in another week or ask to see the ENT again?

I had sinus surgery and the end of March 2014 that included a septoplasty. Apparently I also had an outfracture of my turbinates based on the operation report. My congestion never cleared up and in just these past several weeks I have developed most of the symptoms of ENS, the worst being the feeling of suffocation, especially at night when I attempt to sleep (mostly unsuccessfully). Visited my ENT surgeon 10 days ago with a list of my problems and everything I was doing to treat them, including yellow mucous buildup that I can only get out through irrigation (the only time I can blow my nose). He said my surgery healed perfectly and he felt sorry for my suffering but couldn’t do anything for me. I have read everything I could get online about ENS, but need to find a doctor familiar with ENS to make sure I am doing everything possible to mitigate the symptoms. I purchased the Grossan irrigator system and use it several times a day, along with moisturizing sprays, gels, and cold moist humidifiers. My nose certainly feels better after the irrigation. Do you have any information about doctors in Southern California who can diagnose as well as treat ENS patients? I live in San Diego, CA.
